At first when I weighed big boxes I just moved the Remote Display to the side... it can easily stretch over nine feet away. No matter what you're working with... the display is conveniently out of the way. I just leave it powered up all the time using the AC Adapter. When I have something to weigh I just click on the orange button and give it a couple seconds to "adjust and zero out" and then place the item on the platform.
