 I just leave it powered up all the time using the AC Adapter.  When I have something to weigh I just click on the orange button and give it a couple seconds to "adjust and zero out" and then place the item on the platform.  The precise weight instantly appears in big digits on the Remote Display.  And I never bother to click it off... it does that for me after two minutes of inactivity.
